15 Strategic Sports Sponsorship Deck Templates to Help You Land Sponsors

Sports companies rely on sponsorships to run events like tournaments, exhibitions, expos and social impact activations.

But getting sponsors to close deals worth tens of thousands or more isn’t simple. Your sports sales team needs the right tools to attract, prospect and pitch potential sponsors.

A sponsorship deck is what you need: a set of slides that showcase and highlight information like your sports team’s trajectory, brand values and mission, future goals, sponsorship benefits and the available sponsorship packages.

Creating a winning sponsorship deck doesn't have to be such a difficult task.

This guide includes 15 strategic sports sponsorship deck templates to help you land your next big sponsor.

We also share best practices, mistakes to avoid and frequently asked questions that will set you up for success.

Table of Contents

Quick Read

  • A sponsorship deck is a tool for pitching sponsorship opportunities to potential sponsors. You could also call it a sponsorship presentation, a sponsorship pitch deck, or a sponsorship proposal.
  • The key elements you should include in your sponsorship proposal deck include: introduction, sponsorship levels, target audience, marketing plan, activation plan, benefits and value proposition, case studies and contact information.
  • Follow these steps to create an impactful sponsorship deck in Visme: log in and choose a template, input your content, design and visuals, proofread and finalize your design and share with your audience.
  • Here are sponsorship best practices you should keep in mind: Research and choose potential sponsors wisely, understand your sponsors’ objectives, provide a clear ROI, have a clear visual and brand message, and know how your product activation benefits sponsors.
  • Avoid these mistakes at all costs when creating a sponsorship deck: being vague or inconsistent, promising what you can’t deliver, skipping sponsorship valuations, ignoring the sponsor's concerns or doubts or presenting a jumbled or messy pitch deck.
  • Use Visme’s presentation software to whip up professional, captivating sponsorship pitch decks that win sponsors over.

What is a Sponsorship Deck?

A sponsorship deck is a presentation used to pitch sponsorship opportunities to potential sponsors. It can also be called a sponsorship presentation, a sponsorship pitch deck, or a sponsorship proposal.

Well-written sponsorship decks should have these characteristics:

  • Provide a clear explanation of the sponsorship opportunity
  • Share a compelling description of your brand, including its history, brand values, mission and future goals
  • Showcase the value and benefits that the sponsor would get in exchange for resources or financial support
  • Share details of the event, project, or organization being sponsored
  • Include details about the target audience, marketing efforts and activation plans
  • Provide information about the sports sponsorship packages available

Let’s illustrate this with a real-world example that checks all the right boxes.

MK United FC, a grassroots football club with deep community roots, created a sponsorship deck that clearly outlines the opportunity, speaks to their mission, and highlights the benefits for potential sponsors.

It’s a great example of how impactful decks can spark interest and open doors for meaningful partnerships.

What to Include in a Sponsorship Deck?

Here are the key elements you should include in your sponsorship proposal deck

  • Introduction: Share an overview of the event, project, or organization being sponsored, including its mission, objectives, and impact.
  • Sponsorship levels: Provide a list of the different sponsorship levels available, along with the corresponding benefits and recognition for each level.
  • Target audience: Share information about the demographic profile of the target audience, including age, gender, income, education, and interests.
  • Marketing plan: Outline the marketing efforts that will be implemented to promote the event, project, or organization, including advertising, public relations, social media and other tactics.
  • Activation plan: Include details about how sponsors will be recognized and activated throughout the event, project, or organization, including opportunities, branding and hospitality.
  • Benefits and value proposition: Explain the benefits and value that sponsors will receive in exchange for their support, including exposure, branding, networking opportunities, and other perks.
  • Case studies: Share examples of successful past sponsorships and their impact on the event, project, or organization, as well as feedback from previous sponsors.
  • Contact information: Provide your contact details (name, email, phone number, and website URL.) so that potential sponsors can follow up and get further information.

Here’s a classic example of a sports sponsorship proposal that embodies these elements we’ve shared.

It covers detailed information about the reach, sponsorship opportunities, packages and tiers, assessment and criteria. I love how they sprinkle captivating visuals of their sports facilities across different slides.

Here's another example with a lot more detailed breakdown of these essential elements.

Login to Visme and Choose a Template

Step 2: Input Your Content, Design and Visuals

Swap the text in the placeholder or create new text boxes to add new content. You can use the design as is or customize the template with your preferred colors, fonts, icons, shapes and other visual assets.

Everything you need to beautify this template is available in the Visme editor. And you can even upload your brand assets if you want.

Change the photos by selecting them, clicking “replace image,” and choosing one from the media library.

Need help finding unique visuals that match your brand? Search the vast image library inside your editor to find royalty-free images for any slide in your presentation. If you can’t find one you like or if they’re not quite right, try using the AI image generator to create unique visuals with a text prompt.

Step 3: Proof and Finalize Your Design

When all your content is placed into the template, including your logo and brand colors, it’s time to let the rest of your team take a look and give you feedback on the design.

Alternatively, you can collaborate on the deck from the start. Create a workspace where you add all your collaborators and team members to work on the sponsorship pitch together. Assign sections or slides to specific people and set permissions for sensitive content using the Workflow feature.

Noah from Kraft Sports + Entertainment uses this feature with his team:

You have a lot of control over the settings as to who can view what. If something is super sensitive, you can keep it confidential. If you want to share it across the world, you can share it across the world.

8 Sponsorship Best Practices & Mistakes to Avoid

When creating your sponsorship pitch decks, you want them to be their best.

Here’s what I’ve learned over the years. Well-thought-out presentations have a higher chance of sealing the deal with sponsors.

In this section, I’ll share the do’s and don'ts of sports sponsorship to help you put together a pitch that stands out and really resonates.

Sponsorship Deck Best Practices

Research and Choose Potential Sponsors Wisely

Prospecting sponsors is all about fit. It’s crucial to find those whose values and objectives align with your brand and what you have to offer. For every prospect, you must ask, “Is this brand a perfect fit for this sponsorship package I’m selling?” Pitch to the brands that have the best fit overall.

According to Sara Gundy, a Brand Activation, Experience and Sponsorship expert, aligning your pitch with a sponsor's unique goals and values is crucial for building authentic synergy.

An impactful sponsorship proposal goes beyond simply asking for support—it’s a thoughtful invitation to collaborate. Take the time to research and ensure you're speaking to the right person within the organization, so your pitch doesn't just land, but resonates. The most effective proposals are targeted, personal, and tailored to align with the sponsor’s brand identity, CSR objectives, audience, and strategic goals. When you craft a proposal that connects their mission with your event’s vision, you’re no longer just seeking funding; you’re establishing a partnership that drives mutual value and meaningful impact.
Sara Gundy

To find the ideal sponsors on which to focus, you must research what their brand is about and ask questions like:

  • What are the sponsor brand’s values and mission?
  • Who is their target audience and who is their core audience?
  • What other sports brands do they sponsor?
  • Do they have a stable financial background?
  • Do they have a good track record in sponsorship?

Look through their websites and learn their history and their future goals. Read their press releases and follow them on social media. Read what other publications have said about them and make assessments.

Tailor how you pitch to each sponsor, personalizing the package slide, messaging and story. You should also go a step further and do the same for your sponsorship letter and sponsorship packages.

Understand Your Sponsors’ Objectives

The ideal way to land a sponsor for a sports product is to know what each sponsor’s marketing and advertising objectives are. When you know what they want or need, you can offer well-aligned products that will benefit them in the short and long run.

Find out what your client's event sponsorship objectives or ideas are. A medium-sized brand aims to reach its target market through sports events. Offering them a logo on the digital newsletter may not provide the desired exposure. You may want to consider offering signage on the field on the game day.

Another brand may wish to use sports as a gateway to reach small children and their parents. Slapping their logo on a banner may not be super effective.

I’d suggest placing their logo on the jerseys or water bottles kids use during youth games or events. It’s these small, tailored touches that show you’re paying attention to what they need.

Provide a Clear ROI

I’ve found that showing sponsors exactly what they’ll gain goes a long way. And all of the examples I’ve shared in this article have this element.

Some ideas include increased brand exposure, access to new audiences, wide product promotion and more.

Offering a clear return on investment (ROI) analysis demonstrates to potential sponsors the tangible value they can expect from the partnership.

Use data visualizations to show projections for their benefits. Alternatively, use case studies from previous or current sponsors. Add a section in your pitch that visualizes what these sponsors gained from the partnership. Remember to be honest and transparent.

Being honest here is key—I want them to know I’m not overselling. It builds trust and helps them feel confident in the partnership.

Have a Clear Visual and Brand Message

Your brand isn’t just the right choice of colors in the sponsorship pitch deck. It’s also the message you use, the voice and tone in the text, the type of visuals you select, and your values.

Earlier, I talked about fit. Fit is most evident when a sponsor and sports brands have aligned values and similar goals. Don’t just present the benefits; also share how aligning the two brands will benefit all.

That said, I strongly recommend imparting your visual brand to your presentation. Otherwise, the message and the values are diluted. Use the Visme brand kit to help you. You can set it up before you start designing the pitch deck and use it to change colors and fonts accordingly.

Know Your Products Well and How Their Activation Benefits Sponsors

Sports properties or products are the specific things you can offer a sponsor. Depending on your sport, there are many properties or products. Here are some of the most common that fit with the majority of sports:

  • Logo placements
    • Website
    • Social media
    • Newsletters
    • Jerseys
    • Signage
  • Joint advertising
    • TV commercials
    • Social media activations
    • Print ads, billboards
  • Tickets to games
    • Home games
    • Sponsored games
  • Special events for sponsors
    • Friendly matches
    • Meet and greets
    • Luncheons
  • Signed memorabilia
    • Balls
    • Jerseys
    • Bats

When you know what your products are, give them value. Analyze exactly how each product can benefit the sponsor and write a line or two about it. This information will help you create athletic sponsorship packages that are appropriately valued and don’t over-promise anything.

Check out how this presentation deck provides a detailed breakdown of the different sponsorship packages and benefits available to sponsors.

Pro Tip: Think about putting together a sales one-pager to go along with your presentation. It’s a great way to recap the important points and keep the conversation going after the meeting.

Sponsorship Deck Mistakes to Avoid

Being Vague or Inconsistent

One thing I’ve learned is that clarity is everything. If a pitch is vague or inconsistent, sponsors are left guessing—and that can deter them.

Your sponsorship pitch must be clear and coherent so sponsors can make informed decisions. Providing detailed, concise data in your pitch also helps them understand the value of their potential investment.

Promising What You Can’t Deliver

I know how tempting it can be to make big promises, but I’ve found it’s way better to be realistic.

Set realistic expectations about the benefits you can offer potential sponsors. Failing to deliver on promises can result in a strained sponsor relationship or lost opportunities in the future. Overpromising can also lead to disappointment and dent your credibility.

Skipping Sponsorship Valuation

Not determining the actual value of the sponsorship opportunity (your product, event, etc) can hinder negotiations. Sponsors want to know the worth of their potential investment, including ROI and long-term benefits. Conduct a thorough sponsorship valuation by considering factors like media exposure, audience demographics, and market trends.

Ignoring the Sponsors’ Concerns or Doubts

From experience, I can tell you that brushing off a sponsor’s doubts is a big mistake. It can harm a positive relationship with the sponsor.

Compelling sponsorship pitches should encourage open dialogue and address sponsors' reservations during negotiation. Actively listen and offer solutions to their concerns; this way, you can build trust and increase the likelihood of a successful partnership.

Having a badly structured sponsorship pitch presentation

I know firsthand that a messy or unorganized pitch can make it challenging for sponsors to grasp the value of your proposal.

Sponsors want a clear, easy-to-follow deck that highlights your sports brand values and message. By organizing your presentation well and making it visually appealing, you can improve your chances of a positive response.

Sponsorship Deck FAQs

  • Define the product or opportunity offered by your sports entity: Some examples of sports products include championship events, an entire season or a training camp.
  • Calculate the value of the sponsorship product: Conduct a sponsorship valuation to determine how much value the sports product will have. Some valuation factors include longevity, popularity, and social impact.
  • Create sponsorship packages: With a good idea of what your sponsorship product is worth, formulate sponsorship packages.
  • Find potential sponsors with the right fit: Do your research and find potential sponsors that align with your brand and your sponsorship packages.
  • Prepare a sponsorship pitch and organize meetings: Use your deck to pitch to sponsors and close a deal.

There are two ways to pitch for sponsorship; it all depends on your audience and the value of the support you’re seeking.

For sponsorship strategies comprising small sponsorship packages, your deck will be tailored to several potential sponsors at a time. You can record a video and send it with the presentation or conduct meetings with potential small sponsors.

A sponsorship package with a very high ticket needs a personalized deck tailored to one sponsor at a time. Conduct formal meetings where you present the customized benefits and show how your brand aligns with theirs.

Every sponsorship package must be of similar or equal value to the sponsorship deal.

Some sponsorship packages are small and can offer things like game tickets and event invitations, plus the sponsor logo printed on marketing material.

Medium to large-scale sponsorship packages can offer a logo on the jersey sleeve and signage at the games. For media, it could include a short TV commercial or a YouTube ad.

Larger sponsorship packages can include jerseys made by the sponsoring brand with the logo on the front and back or advertising in 60 TV commercials during a big game.

A good sponsorship package holds good value for the sponsor’s money. To have a good sponsorship package that sells itself, you must have a good valuation analysis and an understanding of market trends. This is helpful regardless if you’re creating event sponsorship packages or athletic sponsorship packages.

When describing your sponsorship packages, be detailed and give as much information about the value as possible. Every item in the package must pack good value for money. Otherwise, the sponsors won’t see the benefit. You can also send a sponsorship letter before hand for good measure.

A well-structured and easy-to-read proposal has between 6 and 10 pages. Regarding the size of the sponsorship deck, it’s more important to make sure the information is easy to grasp and well organized than to make a bunch of flashy slides that say nothing or very little for the sponsor’s benefit.

Here’s a list of seven potential pages for your sponsorship proposal.

  • A cover
  • Executive Summary/Introduction
  • Key attributes of the sports product
  • How the product will meet the sponsor’s needs
  • Specifics of the sponsorship
  • Team background
  • Team values

The ABCs of sponsorship are

  • A – Audience: Sponsors want to know that their investment will reach a large and relevant audience that aligns with their target market.
  • B – Benefits: Sponsors also want to see a clear list of benefits they will receive in exchange for their investment. This can include branding opportunities, media exposure, or access to exclusive events.
  • C – Content: Finally, sponsors want to ensure that the cost of sponsorship is reasonable and provides a good return on investment. So provide visuals and detailed context to support your request.
