“Visme enables you to upgrade your visual content and better attract your ideal client.”

Every business needs to have the ability to create graphics and visuals to accompany their marketing content.

Web content that includes visuals receives about 94% more views. Emails with images see a 42% higher clickthrough rate. Infographics generate 12% more web traffic. And tweets with images see 35% more retweets.

And the graphics and marketing assets that you put out tend to have a direct correlation with the type of clients and customers you attract.

After all, that’s exactly why color psychology and advertising appeals are so important for marketers and business owners to keep in mind.

Because Melissa of Little Black Desk Society understands this so well, she knew she needed to invest in revamping her visual content when she was looking to grow her business and reach a higher end clientele.

“Going into my fifth year of business, I wanted a design software that was more polished for the type of client I was trying to attract and where I was growing my business. And that’s where Visme was the perfect fit.”

How Melissa Uses Visme in Her Business

While Melissa first learned about Visme during the summer of 2018, she didn’t really dive into the platform until January 2019.

“I had a full plate last year because of the way my membership cycles work. But around the new year, people are trying to take on new projects, so that was the time I was like, ‘Okay, I’m diving in’ [with Visme].”

After jumping into the platform around January 2019, Melissa has started redesigning all of her brand assets in Visme.

“Once you incorporate the details of your company’s brand into your account, that saves you time when creating visual content.”

She uploaded her brand colors and fonts and has completely redone the way she creates visuals. Melissa incorporates her use of Visme into her blog, newsletter, website, digital products and speaker presentations.

Not only do her graphics look better, she’s seen direct results from her graphic design switch.

“I’ve seen an uptick in subscribers due to Visme that are a result of polished presentations and speaking engagements, and also using graphics within opt-ins on the site.”

You can view one of the opt-in graphics below that has helped her to ramp up email marketing efforts and increase lead generation:

Not only that, but Melissa is able to generate even more revenue through her business with the ability to create digital documents that she sells within her shop.

“I’ve been creating digital documents for purchase for my shop to help explain different processes and best practices for small business owners. And one of my favorite things about Visme is how those digital documents can be interactive.”

Below is an example of one such document:

Melissa has also written her own blog post on the 21 different types of visuals she creates with Visme.

Why Melissa Switched to Visme From Canva

Melissa had been using Canva in her business for about five years, but she realized that the platform was only going to take her so far.

She wanted to be able to put together a more polished and high-end brand with professional presentations, infographics and other visuals, and Canva just wasn’t meeting her needs.

Naturally, having previously been a Canva user for several years, Melissa had a lot of her processes already set up on their platform.

But with the new year, and her upcoming need to create a new presentation, she knew she needed a change. And Visme was the perfect Canva alternative for her to turn to and really revamp her marketing content.

“In 2018, I had created a presentation for my quarterly strategy sessions that are part of my mastermind membership, and I needed to fix that presentation and continue to make more. That was another catalyst that made me say, ‘Okay, I’m doing this.’”

Since then, she’s designed every new graphic, presentation, infographic, opt-in, etc., within the Visme design platform.

Another reason that Melissa made the switch to Visme is the interactivity that the platform offers. Being able to create presentations that are able to better keep her audience engaged is a gamechanger for her speaking engagements and her mastermind group.

“Everyone hates PowerPoints. People’s eyes glaze over. So the fact that you can make the presentations interactive, that makes you competitive if you are a business person trying to keep the eyes of your clients.”

You can check out one of the presentations she’s created using Visme below:

Other Visme Features Melissa Loves

Melissa is also able to create high-quality infographics that her audience loves and that perform well on Pinterest, generating more new interest and leads for her business.

Here are a couple of infographics she has created with Visme:

She also loves the embedding component that Visme has so that she can easily place presentations, infographics and more directly on her website.

“I used to use Issuu, and I no longer have a need for it because I can embed the content from Visme right on my site.”

Issuu ranges from $19-35/month, so Melissa is able to save money in her business due to Visme’s versatility and ability to be used in many different ways. Essentially, Visme has been able to replace both Canva AND Issuu.

Another feature that Melissa loves is the back-end analytics

If she were to publish her content as a lead generator, she has access to the analytics directly in the back end of her Visme dashboard to see how many views each of her lead magnets have gotten.

Thank you for featuring Little Black Desk Society in a case study! I love using Visme and creating new content pieces. Just this week I create a new media kit using the presentation tools.

I understand that Canva is a competitor and of course it can’t win here.
The example of a PowerPoint slide from Canva isn’t fair, because depending on the creativity of the user you can make amazing power point slides with Canva too.
